Playbook For A Remarkable Victory

What great discovery does the high priest make? How does the reading of the scroll affect the king? How does the reading of God’s word affect you?

Reading today the book of Truth in 2 Kings 22, we will reflect on the questions above, pray, and develop a game plan. There will be confidence because we know that we will be led to do the right things. The word of God will give instructions that will be timeless for our hearts and lives. We will keep on track with the “Playbook” that will lead to a remarkable victory.

We note today that Josiah became king at age eight and began to seek God. At age 26, he began to repair the temple that had deteriorated under the leadership of the previous evil kings. In the process of renovation, the high priest makes a great discovery. He found the Book of the Law in the temple of the Lord (v. 8). The reading of the Book of the Law affected the king because he realized that Judah had not followed what it said. This angered Josiah so he tore his robes (v. 11).

Think of exercising. If a person never works out, it doesn’t help them get in physical shape. They have to get moving, stick it out, and be patient for it to transform their out of shape body into a body that is fit.

To get our spiritual body in shape, we need to exercise our faith by using the equipment or the word of God. A Bible never read and applied does no good, but those who turn the pages, read, learn, and apply what it says will find it is the playbook for a remarkable victory in their life.
