The Law Greater Than The Law of Gravity

What happens to Jesus after he dies? Why don’t the soldiers break Jesus’ legs? How do they make sure He is dead? What scriptures are fulfilled (See Psalm 34:20, Psalm 22:16, Zech. 12:10)?

Did you hear about the guy reading a book on Isaac Newton’s law of gravity? It was so interesting that he couldn’t put it down. As a believer, what we do is make the book about the Law of God so interesting that people can’t put it down.

After Jesus dies on the cross as noted in John 19:31-42, the next day was Sabbath, so the Jewish leaders wanted to remove all the bodies left on the crosses. They asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down (v. 31). When they came to Jesus, He was already dead, so they didn’t break His legs. To make sure He was dead, the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear (v. 34).

This fulfills the scriptures written in Psalm 34:20!

He protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.

What was written in the Old Testament many years ago was fulfilled as recorded in the Gospel writings. Jesus fulfills the Law of God. The four gospels each document the life of Jesus while on earth. They are like eyewitnesses of what happened. Witnesses in a court room put their hands on the Bible and swear to tell the truth. The witness of our faith in Jesus as the Truth is as solid as a rock. More solid than Newton’s law of gravity so this day with God, smile and feel assured.
