Needs Fulfilled

From the previous post, Jesus took a few loafs of bread and a couple of fish to feed 5,000 on the grassy hillside. Then as we read John 6:16-40, the disciples got into a boat to go across the lake to Capernaum. Jesus had not gone with them but after they had navigated about three or four miles on the lake, they saw Jesus approaching the boat (v. 19).

In today’s passage, Jesus reveals His power to walk on water. Then later in the passage, we note that Jesus is the Word which is food for the soul so there is an unlimited supply of the bread of life. The thought is that whoever accepts the Word will never go hungry or thirsty which are the two basic needs that Jesus can fulfill.

Satisfaction, joy, peace, and abundant living are within our reach at this moment because Christ is the bread of life who nourishes our souls. From the bread of life, we have the Holy Spirit that indwells to bring grace, redemption, and everlasting life.

  1. Excellent insight. The connection between the miracles is important. This is it: “Satisfaction, joy, peace, and abundant living are within our reach at this moment because Christ is the bread of life who nourishes our souls.”

    Blessings.
