Members of a health club were having their first meeting. The director of the group said. “Now, I’d like each of you to give the facts of your daily routine.” Several people spoke, admitting their excesses, and then one obviously overweight member said, “I eat moderately, I drink moderately, and I exercise frequently.” “Hmm?” said the manager. “And are you sure you have nothing else to add?” “Well, yes, “said the member, “I lie extensively.”
To achieve anything in this journey through life, it takes willpower as pointed out in this poem. An athlete may run or lift weights to build stamina and strength. A sports team will practice so that they are disciplined and organized to play at their best. A student studies so they understand the material and can do well on test.
In this journey through life
It takes willpower
Finding routines that work
Each and every hour.
Like someone jogging,
Building stamina
Or a student
Learning algebra.
Both need self-discipline
To start and replay
Over and over
Each and every day.
Sports teams practice
So they organize
To play at their best
And win the prize.
Students study
To be at their best
Knowing their subject
And doing well on test.
