In Luke 1:57-80, Zechariah said that the purpose of the Messiah would be to redeem God’s people. He said his son would be named John who would shine the light and give God’s people knowledge of salvation through forgiveness of their sins. Those who would accept Jesus as Savior would receive this forgiveness.

Our purpose should be to serve God each day knowing that because of Christ, we are holy and righteousness before Him. To shine the light in a sometimes dark world so there is guidance to a path of peace.

This day with God, share with others how the Lord’s blessings are upon them. Give them confidence because of the Lord’s acceptance of them and pray for them to lead lives that are doing great things for their families, their community, and the Lord.
