Surviving Turbulent Times
BELIEVE AND HOLD
INVEST IN:
1. A BODY THROUGH WHICH CHRIST LIVES.
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies
to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice – the kind He will
accept.” Romans 12:1ab (NLT)
“Or don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit,
Who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to
yourself.” 1 Corinthians 6:19 (NLT)
2. A MIND THROUGH WHICH CHRIST THINKS.
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God
transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then
you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good
and pleasing and perfect His will really is.” Romans 12:2 (NLT)
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus….”
Philippians 2:5 (NKJV)
3. A TALENT THROUGH WHICH CHRIST SERVES.
“…we are all parts of His one body, and each of us has different work
to do. And since we are all one body in Christ, we belong to each
other, and each of us needs all the others.” Romans 12:5bc (NLT)
“God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well….”
Romans 12:6a (NLT)
4. A HEART THROUGH WHICH CHRIST LOVES.
“Don’t just pretend that you love others. Really love them. Hate what
is wrong. Stand on the side of the good. Love each other with genuine
affection, and take delight in honoring each other.”
Romans 12:9-10 (NLT)
“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other.
Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.”
John 13:34 (NLT)
5. A HAND THROUGH WHICH CHRIST HELPS.
“When God’s children are in need, be the one to help them out….”
Romans 12:13a (NLT)
“…If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give
them something to drink,….” Romans 12:20bc (NLT)

I liked the part where Pastor Steve talked about investing in a body through which Christ lives. It\’s similar to a physical workout in which we build muscle. In this case, we build muscles of faith as we study God’s word, pray, and listen for direction from the Holy Spirit. The thing about building faith muscles is that they continue to grow even as our physical bodies get older.
