Walking in the light, as revealed in 1 John 1:5 through 2:6, means stepping into clarity—a space where everything comes into view: our flaws, our potential, and the path ahead. Jesus, the Light, not only exposes what’s hidden but offers forgiveness with every radiant beam of grace. When we follow Him—the Way, the Truth, and the Life—we move forward with power from the Holy Spirit, who guides each step even when the road feels uneven. Though we stumble and falter, we can recalibrate our priorities, choosing excellence over complacency. With every adjustment made in trust and humility, our future becomes brighter, inching closer to the glorious finish of the journey He began in us.

Example to Follow

Paul said, “Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.” – Philippians 3:17

Paul serves as a remarkable example for us to emulate in our daily lives, guiding us with his faith and dedication. Yet, above all, we are called to be grateful for Jesus, who stands as the ultimate and perfect example to follow as we step ahead. His presence fills our worship services and resonates in every song that lifts Him up in praise.

Take a moment to immerse yourself in the song Here is Our King by David Crowder Band. This beautiful piece reminds us that Jesus is not only our King but also the embodiment of love who gets us right with God for a better life now and into eternity.

Keep Focused on What Matters

God’s plan for us is a big plus for our life now and in the future. It is essential to constantly set our minds on the things of God. This can be achieved through diligently reading and reflecting upon the scriptures, such as Philippians 3:17-21.

That’s what Paul was focused on. He emphasized continuous improvement and progress in spiritual growth. His goal was to win the prize by fulfilling God’s purpose in his life, following the teachings of Jesus, and aligning his life with God’s will.

We can strive to follow the example of Paul by adopting several practices:

Learn from God’s Word: Delve into the scriptures and internalize the lessons they impart.
Take notes on how to apply His Word: Capture insights and reflections to guide our actions.
Learn from others: Observe and listen to the experiences and wisdom of fellow believers.
Learn from experiences: Reflect on personal experiences as opportunities for spiritual growth.
Act on what we learn: Implement the teachings and insights gained in daily life.
Share what we learn: Communicate and share wisdom and lessons learned with others.

Setting our minds on heavenly things requires paying attention to the unseen qualities of faith, hope, and love. God is present at every worship service, in every song you hear, in every conversation, and in every sunrise, sunset, and season.

By paying attention, learning, taking notes, and sharing, we align ourselves with God’s plan. It is through these practices that we nurture our spiritual growth and deepen our relationship with God, paving the way for a life filled with purpose and divine guidance.

This day with You God, we read Your Word and learn lessons, gain insight, and share what we read, what we hear, and what we see. You are with us everywhere. In songs we hear, in every sunrise or sunset, and the people we meet. You are with us every season from the hot summer days to the cooler autumn evenings as the leaves fall. From the cold winter evenings to the warmth of spring. We pay attention to the things around us, take notes, and share with others about You. We are grateful for Your love for us in sending Jesus who is our perfect example to follow for living a life that is better now and into eternity. Amen.

Touch the Heights of Excellence

I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:14

Valuable insights were gained from Paul’s teaching as laid out in “Striving for the Prize”. Some of these insights include working with unwavering passion and dedication for Jesus Christ, for He is the ultimate author of all that is good and pure. Strive for perfection, knowing that in the pursuit, you will touch the heights of excellence. Let your efforts be guided by a heart devoted to His will, for the greatest triumph in life is not measured by worldly achievements, but by fulfilling God’s divine purpose for you. With every step, align your path to His plan, and you will find meaning, joy, and eternal fulfillment.

Life can often feel like an uphill battle, but it’s important to keep praying and striving for excellence.
