Seeing with New Eyes of Faith

Through the lens of John 9-10, we are invited to see with new eyes of faith, opening our hearts to the transformative work of the Son. In Him, the Word became flesh, walking among us not only as the embodiment of truth and grace but as a steadfast friend who remains with us until the end. His actions, healing the blind and guiding His followers like a shepherd, reveal the deep, abiding love that makes spiritual sight possible. It is because of His sacrifice and presence that we gain the vision to journey in faith, trusting in the One who illuminates our path with Light and eternal friendship.

Acceptance

Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. – Romans 15:7

Only God can look at somebody’s heart and see value when others may not. He values everyone so much that He sent Jesus Christ to die for all. This should change our attitude towards all people; even those who disagree with us or hurt us.

As the song Come to the Table by Sidewalk Prophets points out, we can take our place beside the Savior, sit down at the table, and be set free.

The Lord is the Ultimate Reward

Isaiah prophesied in a time when Jerusalem was spiritually corrupt, and they needed a deliverer. Reading today in Isaiah 62 the advice is to be prepared, on watch, and ready for the coming of the the ultimate reward in the Lord.

The Lord has made proclamation
To the ends of the earth:
“Say to Daughter Zion,
‘See, your Savior comes!
See, his reward is with him,
And his recompense accompanies him.’” – Isaiah 62:11

Isaiah the prophet was determined to continue speaking because a bright future would be assured for those who believed in the Lord. The Lord values everyone and delights in all who are humbly willing to accept the Savior and ask for forgiveness.

In current times, we know that this prophecy of a Savior came to fulfilment. There is one common thread that binds us; the power of Christ our Savior who we follow. This day let us accept the stream of grace that helps us go in one direction, that brings us together and heals our land.

Only God can look at somebody’s heart and see value when others may not. He values everyone so much that He sent Jesus Christ to die for all. This should change our attitude towards all people; even those who disagree with us or hurt us.

Speaking with certainty about how much God values each person arouses in those not yet accepting the Lord’s way to change course and start following His way with joyful confidence.

Lord, You are our ultimate reward. We are never 100 percent debt free but with Jesus there is recompence. You thought so highly of us that You sent Jesus to provide the way to wash away our sin and be debt free. May we always be on alert with our attention undivided to the path Jesus has provided. Amen.

Refrain From Mundane

For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations. – Isaiah 61:11

The lessons from God’s word nourishes the garden of our soul. As pointed out in “Receiving Abundant Blessings”, the picture being painted into our mind from Isaiah 61 is one of wisdom, direction, abundance, and eternal joy. We are put into a condition conducive to receiving the blessings that only God can give.

The world wants to tell us we are missing out on good times, pleasure, and excitement. Like weeds, this thinking stunts our growth. One idea brought out was a way to transform mundane tasks into joyful experiences by internalizing the rhythm of the Father’s heart.

By listening to gospel and Christian music, we can internalize and sharpen spiritual weapons in our mind that can destroy the enemy. This day with God, listen to the song In the Hands of God by Newsboys. The lyrics become a part of our soul as we get into the rhythm and beat of the Father’s heart.

Receiving Abundant Blessings

There is always a joyful ending with God by our side. The advantage of living a life with God is the poise gained to withstand adversity. The attitude embraced is one of gratitude because of the help received to obtain abundant blessings.

Reading today Isaiah 61, we learn more about the covenant from God. A covenant is a sacred promise, and in the context of faith, it signifies a profound commitment. Jesus, as the servant of the covenant from God, introduced salvation and grace through His first coming.

Jesus is highly exalted and has sent the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, who brings direction and guidance. This spiritual framework can transform entire societies as righteousness and praise spring forth, just as fertile soil nurtures seeds that ultimately grow crops into a bountiful harvest.

The passage explains that the second coming of Jesus will bring judgment to unbelievers, so let us be prepared spiritually for His second coming (10-11). Let us help others to know Him before the tribulation sets in.

It seems that between the first coming of Jesus and the second coming, the world has become lackadaisical. To overcome, there needs to be a way to find purpose in the mundane.

In the movie “The Karate Kid,” the mentor teaches karate in an unconventional way. The protagonist learns the art through repetitive, seemingly menial tasks, such as waxing cars and painting fences. These tasks instill muscle memory and discipline, illustrating how mundane activities can hold deeper meaning and purpose.

Similarly, memorizing scripture or listening to Christian or Gospel music while doing mundane tasks can sharpen spiritual weapons and fortify the soul.

Transforming mundane tasks into joyful experiences requires a blend of spiritual insight, an attitude of gratitude, and practical strategies. By internalizing spiritual rhythms, and applying creative, social, and mindful approaches, we can make life a little happier, burdens a little lighter, and time a little sweeter. As we prepare spiritually and open our hearts to divine guidance, we position ourselves to receive the abundant blessings that only God can bestow.

Lord … thank you for the picture painted in our mind from today’s passage. It is a picture of wisdom, direction, abundance, and eternal joy. The world wants to tell us we are missing out on good times, pleasure, and excitement. But by following Jesus, we can be sure that we will not miss out. We gain abundance now and can look forward to a future that is beyond what we could imagine. As we take on mundane tasks, we ask for ideas to help put our minds into a condition conducive to receiving the blessing that only You can give. Because of Jesus, things are good now but there is much to look forward to as we are called home or as Jesus comes again. Amen.
