Thought From Devotional 10-17-2025

A thought from the study of 3 John is that Like wildflowers scattered across a hillside, the seeds of kindness sown in the hearts of God’s people bloom over time into a vibrant community of faith. Each act of humility, each gesture of hospitality, carries the potential to replicate Christ’s love—quietly, patiently, and powerfully. As we walk together in fellowship, praying and encouraging one another toward truth and love, we cultivate a garden of grace that makes life more pleasant and purposeful. These seeds—faith-filled and Christ-centered—take root in the soil of daily life, growing into something beautiful: a testimony of God’s goodness reflected in the unity and compassion of His people.

Questions for Reflection for the Study of Nahum

As we turn the page into the book of Nahum, our hearts ascend toward greater spiritual heights, guided by the steady compass of wisdom from God’s Word. This prophetic text, though brief, motions us to consider the weight of God’s justice and the depth of His mercy. In a world often shaken by chaos and pride, Nahum reminds us that our relationship with God is not a casual acquaintance—it is the anchor of our identity, the source of our discernment, and the path to peace. Let us approach this study with reverence, ready to be refined, uplifted, and drawn closer to the heart of the One who reigns with righteousness.

The reading plan below will be used to hold me accountable as I share about God’s Word. To share about Nahum, it’s important to have a plan in place. I am thankful that Jesus is God’s plan for us, and by accepting Christ as Savior, we have taken the essential steps to make each day amazing. This plan will guide our journey, ensuring that we gain a deeper understanding of the scriptures and apply them meaningfully in our daily lives.

Questions for Reflection

Nahum 1 – What is God like according to Nahum’s description? What in nature does Nahum cite to support this view of God? Describe the enemy and why are they God’s enemy? What characterizes an enemy of God today?

Nahum 2 – What analogies does Nahum use to describe the defeat of Nineveh? What is the Lord’s purpose in the destructive work? What happens to Nineveh’s wealth? Why does God seem to delay His discipline?

Nahum 3 – What analogies describe how God will deal with Nineveh? What basic principles for the God-man relationship do you observe in Nahum’s writing?  What are the consequences for ignoring these principles?

Feel free to respond with a thoughtful note or a comment about any of the questions discussed. Additionally, I warmly invite you to share your favorite inspirational videos, photos, or Bible verses that have touched your heart. Please contribute your ideas and reflections in the comments or post them on the dedicated Facebook page: This Day With God – A Spiritual Journey. Together, let’s build a nurturing community that uplifts and supports one another in our spiritual growth and journey through faith. Your voice and inspiration can spark hope and encouragement in someone else’s day!
