Grace Pours Endlessly from Above

Like a brook that flows with living water, Colossians 2:20 through 3:4 invites us into the mystery with grace that doesn’t trickle but pours endlessly from above. In these verses, Paul reminds us that we have died with Christ to the elemental forces of this world and have been raised with Him into a new reality, hidden in God (v. 3:3). This passage is a call to let go of hollow rules and worldly striving, and instead to be filled with the Spirit’s influence — a forever grace that saturates the heart and soul. As we set our minds on things above, we are drawn into the current of heaven’s flow, where our true life is found in Christ, and where glory awaits at His appearing.

While rules and regulations may appear to offer structure, Paul warns that they are merely human commands—external forms that lack the power to transform the heart. These teachings, though often cloaked in wisdom and discipline, cannot reach the root of our inner struggles. They may restrain behavior for a time, but they do not renew the mind or cleanse the soul. True change comes not through rigid observance but through surrender to the Spirit, who reshapes our desires and lifts our gaze to the things above. In Christ, we are invited into a living relationship, not a checklist—one that flows with grace, not obligation, and leads us into the freedom of a heart aligned with heaven.

The new Way is not built on striving, but on surrender—accepting Christ as Savior and allowing His life to become our own. When we set our hearts and minds on things above, we are no longer bound by the fleeting concerns of this world. Instead, we are drawn into a higher reality, where grace flows freely and continually, like a river from heaven into the depths of our being. This grace does not merely cover us—it transforms us. It renews our thoughts, reshapes our desires, and awakens us to the presence of Christ within. In Him, we find our true identity, hidden yet secure, waiting to be revealed in glory.

As we walk in the new Way, the indwelling Spirit becomes our guide, gently revealing the steps we are to take. No longer driven by fear or performance, we move forward with confidence, trusting that each act of faith—no matter how small—is part of a divine choreography meant to glorify God. The Spirit teaches us how to live out grace in practical ways: through kindness, forgiveness, humility, and love. These are not just moral choices, but sacred responses to the life of Christ within us. In this journey, our faith becomes active, not abstract—bearing fruit that reflects heaven’s character and drawing others toward the light of God’s glory.

🙏Gracious Father, You know each of us by name—our stories, our struggles, our strengths. Nothing is hidden from You, and yet You love us fully. Thank You for the gift of Jesus, through whom we’ve been raised into new life. Because of Him, Your Spirit now dwells within us, guiding our steps and shaping our thoughts. Help us today to listen closely, to organize and prioritize according to Your wisdom, not our own. May we walk in faith, not fear, and carry out the plans You’ve placed before us with courage and clarity. Let everything we do today reflect Your glory and bring light to those around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thoughts for Thursday 02-19-2026

Our thoughts push us forward in a certain direction. Below is a thought from Colossians 2:16-19.

Christ stands as the true head of the church, guiding and sustaining His body, while each member contributes through words and actions that are lovingly knit together. In this unity of purpose and affection, the whole body is nourished and strengthened, continually growing toward the victory He has secured. As one generation faithfully hands its wisdom, witness, and worship to the next, the church moves forward in an unbroken line of grace, rooted in Christ and built up in love.

One Body

So in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. – Romans 12:5

Like the song Jesus Changed Everything by Ernie Haase and as pointed out in the post “Pass the Baton of Truth” there was no need any longer for the external religious practices—what they ate or drank, or whether they observed religious festivals, new moon celebrations, or Sabbath days.

Index of devotionals

Jesus changed everything and is the head of the church body, the source of life, wisdom, and direction for every member. As each person speaks truth in love and lives with purpose, their words and influence become threads in a divine tapestry—knitted together by love. This love nourishes the body, strengthening it to grow, persevere, and thrive. From one generation to the next, the legacy of faith is passed on, each handoff infused with grace and hope. In this sacred rhythm, the church moves forward in unity, pressing toward victory through the power of Christ who holds all things together.

Thanks for reading. Please like, follow, and pass on to others … As one body of Christ!
