Bless You with Courage

The Battle of the Alamo was a fight between the Republic of Texas and Mexico in 1836 in San Antonio Texas. The Mexicans won the battle, killing all the Texan soldiers inside the fort but they held up for about 12 days allowing time for the Army at San Jacinto under Sam Houston to get prepared for the ultimate battle to win the war for independence.

In our battles throughout life, courage makes all the difference, because there will be times when life is difficult. The enemy will frighten and scare but remember, God is there to bless with courage. We may not win all our battles, but we can certainly set an example or start the process to help others in the future.

In reading Isaiah 37 today, remember from our previous readings of this book that the king of Assyria was threatening king Hezekiah about taking over the city of Jerusalem. He was mocking their faith in God to deliver them and urged them to surrender.

In current times, the enemy threatens us with destruction. Our days can include times of destress, of rebuke, and disgrace as we try our best to win the battle of each day. There may be criticism, humiliation for not joining the crowd toward unethical practices, or slanderous talk that tarnishes our reputation.

Just like with king Hezekiah in today’s passage, our enemy will fall when God is in control. The enemy will recoil, and we will stand our ground. The best way to win our battles is always with God’s help. God gives courage to make it through days of difficulty, times of criticism, and embarrassment. He is in control and can defeat anything we go up against. He can bless us with victory in all we do.

This day with God, there will be signs that God is with us during our battles. He will not bring on anger or anxiety, but peace, joy, and courage. We will be encouraged by others, by blogs that we read, and we will gain confidence in our prayers for deliverance. We will have faith that God is big enough to help us win our battles.

This day with You Lord, we are encouraged because with You there is certain victory. Death has no sting because of what You bring. We can face our enemy with courage because no matter what happens, there is a reward for us in eternity. Our faith in Jesus gives us courage to face our battles and we have the helper with us. The enemy whispers fear in our ear but because of Jesus, the Holy Spirt will give us the battle plan as we fight for You and gain the victory for Your glory. Amen.
