Have you ever heard of athletes that dedicate a game to a loved one and it inspires them to play their game at the highest level? I once heard a story of a football player that dedicated a game to a loved one who was sick. A pass was thrown his way, and he jumped up to grab the ball at the highest point to intercept the ball. As we read today in Isaiah 15-16, lets dedicate our understanding of today’s word to the Lord.
We note today that God uses prophets during that time to warn the people of coming judgment. Today’s passage is a prophecy about Moab which was a kingdom whose territory today is located in southern Jordan. Moab had been an enemy of Israel and Judah.
In today’s passage, the Assyrian army came against them, so the Moabites fled. They ask Israel for help, but to receive their help Israel wanted them to worship their God. The pride of the Moabites made them say no, and they continued to worship their idols. God allowed the Assyrian army to destroy the land, and Moab is suddenly reduced to almost nothing.
The take away for me in today’s passage is that we need to share about God’s judgment, and relate it to judgment in our own nation today. If we continue to resist God, there will be consequences so our hope should always be in God when facing trouble.
This day with God, let us pray for His assistance in designing our life plan and how we can help others. Let us all dream about how rewarding it will be to carry this plan out.
Let us dedicate this day to the Lord and do what I alluded to at the begging of this post and catch the ball at the highest point so we can intercept and get our team on offense. Let us prepare with confidence and be determined to carry out God’s plan one step at a time.
This day God, we humbly go before You in prayer with confidence that our prayers will be answered. Give us a vision about our life plan and the desire to act on it. To catch faith at it’s highest point. To receive direction in being the best we can be in our calling. To listen, apply, and follow the dreams You give us. As we set out to fulfill these dreams, we dedicate this day to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Blessings. “Let us prepare with confidence and be determined to carry out God’s plan one step at a time.” Amen!
