Instruction

In 2 Corinthians 12:11-21, Paul shows his love for the Corinthians. It is a love similar to parents loving their children; postponing what they would like for the needs of their children. Paul had no self-interest but only concern for the Corinthians well-being. This poem was written to inspire this same kind of love in present times for future generations.

Step Ahead

From older to younger
There is this need
To show the Way
And how to proceed.

To give instruction
For the future
Of a better way
And clearer picture.

No more discord,
Anger or arrogance
But only seeking
The thing of relevance.

By looking for ways
Of being kind;
Loving the Lord
With heart, soul, and mind

Then loving your neighbor
As one of your own
So no one ever feels
Sad and alone.

About Mark Shields

Mark volunteers as a member of the media ministry team at his church. A few years ago, he started an on-line Bible study guide called “This Day with God Devotional”. He uses this as a tool in his journey through the Bible. We live in a very busy world with busy schedules so this tool has helped him continue with daily Bible reading and study. Each of the studies are designed to help apply our faith in the work place, at school, or at home. Join him on this journey or check in every so often to read his thoughts.
