The two disciples returned at once to Jerusalem after seeing Jesus on their walk to Emmaus. While they were telling about this experience to those assembled together in Jerusalem, Jesus stood among them as recorded in Luke 24:36-53. They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost (v. 37).
He wanted the disciples to ascertain that He was resurrected from the dead just as written about in the Old Testament. He wanted them to touch and see so they would fully understand that He was alive in flesh and blood. He even asked for something to eat and they gave Him a piece of broiled fish (v. 42).
The fact that Jesus was resurrected from the dead as recorded in today’s scripture affects us today because the entire Old Testaments points to the Messiah and God wants us to know that Jesus is the Messiah who promised to send the Holy Spirit (v. 49). This fact makes a difference in our world today.
Back in the days when this passage was written, women, children, the sick, and uneducated were of very little value to society but the world became a changed place because of the teachings of Jesus. Let us make a difference in the world today by praying about God’s will for us in helping others know about Christ and His teachings.
This day with you God, the resurrection of Your Son affects our daily living because there is a brighter future to look forward to and this keeps us going. There is new freedom, energy, and purpose in our life. What Jesus teaches in the scripture sets all free. This truth is for all and it leads to victory. Amen!
