Bible Study

Reading for Today

Set some time aside; maybe 10-20 minutes each day for the next two days. Read Philippians 2:19-30 using your Bible or the passage lookup tool: Passage Lookup. After reading the passage for today, click back and continue with the items below.

Questions:

What credentials does Timothy have to recommend him to the Philippians? What qualities does Epaphroditus reveal? What qualities do you reveal?

Video:

Since Paul was in prison, he was handicapped in carrying out the beginnings of the church. He was in prison when he wrote Philippians but God can take what we perceive to be a weakness and turn it into strengths. Take a look at this video of Tom Dempsey:

Dempsey was born without toes on his right foot. What most people would see as a disability, Tom Dempsey made it a strength. He wore a modified shoe with a flattened and enlarged toe surface. In 1970, he kicked this 63 yard field goal and this NFL record has not fallen.

Application:  What lesson has been learned or what are some plans of action I can take?

The older a person gets, the more stories they have to share with friends, kids, nephews, nieces or grandkids. Even in tough times there are lessons learned. Pray for how you can be a spark in the lives of others. Being willing to shine bright in a sometimes dark world and complete the mission that God has for you.

We all have certain experiences, memories, and strong points. Even what we perceive as a weakness, God can carry us so it becomes an advantage if we are willing and available to let Him do it.
